What Your Numbers Mean to You

Your Total Cholesterol Number
A number representating the combined total of HDL and LDL cholesterol in your blood.
  Total Cholesterol
Desirable Less than 200
Borderline - 200-239
High - 240 or greater

Your HDL Cholesterol Number
The higher your HDL cholesterol level is, the more lipoproteins you have to remove stuck cholesterol from your blood vessels.
  HDL Cholesterol
Low - less than 40
High - 60 or greater

Your LDL Cholesterol Number
The higher the number of bad lipoproteins, or LDLs, in your blood, the more likely cholesterol is beginning to stick to your blood vessels.
  LDL Cholesterol
Desirable - less than 100
Moderate risk - 100-159

Your Triglyceride Number
Fat present in the blood and stored in the fat tissue. Elevated levels are associated with increased comsumption of sugar, refined calories, excess calories, and alcohol.
  Triglyceride
Normal - less than 200
Borderline high - 200-400
High - greater than 400

VLDL Cholesterol (Very Low Density Lipoproteins)
Known as "the very bad guys"' they transport triglycerides to the fatty tissue where it is stored. After they have "unloaded" the triglycerides they become LDL's.

Your Glucose Numbers
Measures the sugar level in the blood, which can be an indicator of diabetes.
